Explore
a different historic town or village each day while houseboating
on the Trent-Severn Waterway. Prepare your own meals or enjoy
dining out at one of the many restaurants along the way. Stop
to swim or fish anytime you please. Soak up the sun. enjoy the
scenery, spend time meeting new friends at the locks, or find
a secluded bay for private relaxation.
The Trent-Severn is made of of 20 warm water lakes that are connected
by locks. About every 2 to 3 hours you will cruise through the
middle of a little town. They all have free dockage to welcome
the houseboaters. There are many waterfront golf courses and the
water is warm for swimming all of July and August
The same geographic formation goes through both the 1000 Islands
and the Trent. The eastern half of the Trent is made up of thousands
of islands and bays with picture postcard tall pine trees. The
1000 Islands drains Lake Ontatio and the St. Lawrence River so
the water is cold for swimming most of the summer. The Trent is
warm for swimming all of July and August----bring your bathing
suits.
The Rideau Waterway is the other historic waterway in Ontario.
The Trent -Severn is about twice the size (20,000 kilometers of
shoreline) of the Rideau Waterway. The Trent is made up of lake
after lake with minimum stretches of canal.
All three waterways are gorgeous!! All three rank in the top 10
waterways to visit in the world!! Come and cruise.
We'll welcome you with open arms.
Happy houseboating,
Ron Egan
